Empowering local communities in Kenya

Building bridges across continents

Our purpose is to develop self-sustaining community enrichment projects in Africa by providing needed materials & education so that with these resources the people in these communities will be empowered to generate revenue, mutual respect, and inspiration thereby fostering local economic stability and a sense of personal accomplishment.

Our belief is that these self-sustaining projects will inspire responsible creative action to do more of the same thereby creating a positive ripple effect throughout their local communities and beyond.

Sawa Sawa Foundation, Inc. was started by Phil Pryjma and Karen Smith in 2012 to give support and needed goods to non-governmental agencies in Africa that have a proven record of successful humanitarian service in their respective communities.

We both had traveled to Kenya separately for different reasons and had known each other for 25 years.  We reconnected and realized that we had a similar calling so the Sawa Sawa Foundation was born.

Our teams travel to Africa providing technical expertise to improve agricultural practices, teaching financial literacy, construction and repair of local facilities, improving health care delivery, promoting educational enrichment, providing the infrastructure for clean water and developing a feeding program for the school.

Our projects have provided medical supplies and equipment, tools, books, art supplies, sewing supplies, clothing,  construction material to build and set up a health clinic to assist children with AIDS, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of school facilities and homes, and most importantly a clean water supply.

Sawa Sawa Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Tax ID 36-4745818).
